Day 13

What numbers?

All of the numbers. Track them all.

Tracking your numbers is how you see how your business is growing. It’s not always about the money, especially in the early days you can’t just use sales figures as indicators of how your business is growing – remember the know, like and trust journey.

You should be tracking numbers such as:

  • Social media page followers
  • The number of visitors to your shop
  • Newsletter subscribers
  • Number of sales made
  • Profit made

It’s a good idea to check these numbers weekly and see how they have increased (or decreased) from the week before and see if you can attribute growth to any particular factor – did you release a new product, did you get a post shared and it got some traction, did you spend a lot of time interacting in groups? These questions can help you pinpoint why you had growth and help you to see which activities are paying off, and which are not working. This way you can see how you can productively and efficiently spend your time
