How To Make Extra Money From Your Crochet For Christmas

How To Make Extra Money From Your Crochet For Christmas

Christmas is both the busiest time of year for sellers and the most expensive time of year for buyers. That’s why the Christmas selling season lasts so long – so that customers can spread the cost of their presents over several paydays. This gives you an excellent opportunity to make extra money from your crochet for Christmas by starting advertising your crochet as early as possible!

Your crochet is a goldmine just waiting to be tapped and since Christmas is such a big gift buying time, many people will be collecting gifts months in advance so that they can spread the cost of all of those presents for their loved ones.

It’s Never Too Soon To Start Selling

Although the main Christmas selling season starts in September, some businesses start promoting in June! Christmas in July market events that offer payment plans are becoming more popular and there is no reason that you couldn’t join in some of these events with your crochet.

The idea is that customers can order your crochet in July then pay off the balance over several payments. Once the final payment has been made, you then deliver the order. These Christmas in July events are typically held online in pop up Facebook groups. You can ask to join these events as they are being planned in May and June – you just have to keep an eye out for them and then approach the organiser and request a spot.

3 Paydays To Make Extra Money From Your Crochet For Christmas

The main Christmas selling season starts in September. This gives you 3 monthly paydays to make those sales. To get your crochet to sell you simply have to get visible and make sure it gets seen.

I say simple, but we know that there is more to it than that.

Christmas is the easiest time of year to make sales because the majority of people are looking for gifts for their loved ones, they are looking for decorations for their homes. This means if you’re crochet isn’t selling then there is something amiss with what you’re putting out there

If you are looking to increase your crochet sales quickly, then during the festive season the 2 ways to do that are through your social media accounts and selling at craft fairs.

Selling On Social Media

When it comes to selling on your social media, you need to make sure that your photos of your crochet look fabulous. Thankfully that is easy to do with a bit of know how and your smartphone.

You don’t need to hire professional photographers, you can take fantastic photos yourself. These pictures need to catch the attention of your potential customers and stop them from scrolling through their feed and want to know more.

Once you have their attention, then the words that you are using to describe and sell your crochet matter. Are you giving people all the information they need to make the decision that they want to buy?

Every business in the Western world is advertising their products at this time of year, so to get visible in such a noisy space you have to post more than usual. Create eye-catching posts with fabulous photos of your crochet. Make videos showing your crochet being used, worn or even being unboxed from the packaging you would normally use.

Don’t worry about being flashy or repeating yourself. Just be yourself and keep showing off your crochet every single day.

Selling At Craft Fairs

Craft fairs are a great way to sell your crochet in person, interact with your customers face to face and network with other small business owners. Running your own business can be lonely and isolating but craft fairs are a chance to get sociable.

But not every Christmas fair is going to be the right event for your crochet.

You need to choose the right event where both the type of customer and how well the event is promoted match up, not to mention that the table top cost is within your budget.

The great thing about craft fairs at Christmas is that as long as you take stock that will make a great gift or can be used for decoration, you have much more freedom in what you can sell than at any other time of year.

You can also take the chance to clear out your yarn stash to give you more variety in colours than you would usually offer. You don’t want your table top to look like a jumble sale though, so keep things organised and keep to a few product types to keep things cohesive to the eye.

Keep Going

No matter how you are going to make extra money from your crochet for Christmas, just keep going with getting your crochet visible.

Just because you make the decision to increase your promotion of your crochet today, doesn’t mean that you will start getting more sales today. It can take a couple of weeks for you to start seeing results if you are consistent in showing up to your audience on social media or by sending email newsletters.

So the sooner you start promoting your crochet for Christmas the better as you need time for people to start noticing you and then discover what you and your crochet are about until they feel comfortable buying from you. No one is comfortable buying from a seller or a shop that they have never see before, so you need to show that you are genuine.

Your crochet is a goldmine waiting to be tapped. What’s stopping you from making your own Christmas a fabulous one for your family with all of your crochet profits?
